Abstract

In this paper the results of a relativistic constituent-quark-model calculation of the meson spectrum are presented. The model used is based on a relativistic formalism introduced by Ruijgrok and the Groot and is defined in momentum space. The formalism is similar to Dirac’s point form in the sense that the four operators for the total momentum are the generators of the Poincaré group that contain the interaction. The quark-antiquark potential used consists of a vector Richardson potential and a scalar linear-plus-constant potential. A consistent treatment of the linear potential in momentum space is briefly discussed. Most meson masses were found to be well described by the model.
