Abstract
Scrapie in sheep and goats is a prototypic disease for the whole group of the subacute spongiform virus encephalopathies. Despite having been known for approximately 200 years [83–85, 86, 746, 844, 964], even before its pioneer transmission by Cuilee and Chelle [238–241], the literature of the neuropathology of the natural disease is suprisingly scanty [85, 263, 343–347, 840-841, 845, 1074–1078].
