Summary
The influence of different types of posterior chamber lens implantations on the aqueous humor flow. A fluorophotometric study. Using computerized fluorophotometry the influence of two different types of posterior chamber lens implantations on the aqueous humor flow was investigated. 34 patients underwent fluorophotometry measurements before and after extracapsular cataract extraction. Patients with preexisting glaucoma or those having a history of ocular or systemic inflammation were excluded from the study, also those taking topical or systemic drugs with potential influences on the aqueous humor production. Nine weeks postoperatively a mean increase in aqueous humor flow of 2.13 μl/min after extracapsular cataract extraction plus sulcusfixated IOL and a mean increase of 2.54 μl/min after extracapsular cataract extraction plus capsulefixated IOL was notified. There was no significant change in flow on the unoperated fellow eyes, which served as controls. 61 and 65 days postoperatively there was no significant difference in flow μl/min) between the two different types of posterior chamber lens implantations.
