Zusammenfassung
Aszites kann bei verschiedenen Krankheiten auftreten. Die Pathogenese ist nicht einheitlich. Da Aszites das Symptom einer weit fortgeschrittenen Erkrankung ist, ist die Therapie in der Regel palliativer Natur. Diesem Gesichtspunkt müssen sich daher alle diagnostischen und therapeutischen Maßnahmen unterordnen. Von besonderer Bedeutung für die Intensivmedizin sind die verschiedenen Formen des Nierenversagens bei Patienten mit Lebererkrankungen, die meist mit Aszites einhergehen.
