Zusammenfassung
Die ersten orthotopen Lebertransplantationen wurden in den sechziger Jahren von Starzl und Caine durchgeführt. Im November 1972 erfolgte in Hannover die erste Lebertransplantation durch Prof. R. Pichlmayr, in dessen Abteilung dieser Eingriff bis zum 31. Dezember 1988 433mal durchgeführt wurde:
