Part of the book series: Few-Body Systems ((FEWBODY,volume 1))

Abstract

A theory of y-scaling which properly takes into account nucleon momentum and separation energy is illustrated. The fsi in the continuum states of the residual (A-1) system are correctly taken into account and a model independent criterion for extablishing the relevance of the fsi between the struck nucleon and the residual nucleus is given. The differences between longitudinal momentum distributions and scaling functions due to binding effects are presented and the possibilities offered by y-scaling for the investigation of nucleon dynamics (high momentum components and nucleon swelling in the medium) are discussed.
