Abstract

In 50 persons with no clinical signs of vascular disease, the blood flow velocities in the basal arteries were measured to examine the connection between flow velocity and age (Fig. 13). The results of the measurements showed that the flow velocities were higher among the group of volunteers betweeen 20–30 years of age than in the group of persons between 60 and 70 years of age: in the MCA (3.5) there was a 20% reduction, in the MCA (4.5) 10%, in the ICA 10%, in the Al 20%, in the P1 15%, and in the basilar artery 25%.
