Zusammenfassung

Der 5,5 km lange Rotenbergstollen im Bregenzer Wald (Vorarlberg) wurde von Dezember 1975 bis März 1977 mit einer Robbins-Tunnelbohrmaschine, Durchmesser 3,90 m, aufgefahren. Bauherr der Wasserkraftanlage Langenegg ist die Vorarlberger Kraftwerke AG in Bregenz. Projektierung und Bauleitung liegen in den Händen der Vorarlberger Illwerke AG.

Die Arbeiten an der Triebwasserführung, die neben dem Rotenbergstollen auch einen 270 m langen Schrägschacht umfaßt, wurden einer Arbeitsgemeinschaft die aus den Firmen Jäger — Schruns, Rothpletz — Aarau, und Zschokke — Zürich, besteht, übertragen.

Bereits im frühesten Planungsstadium wurde mit Hinblick auf die günstigen geologischen Verhältnisse die Auffahrung des Stollens mit einer Vollschnittmaschine ins Auge gefaßt. Die Ausschreibung enthielt aber auch eine Variante mit konventionellem Vortrieb. Da der gefräste Kreisquerschnitt bei einem hochbeanspruchten Druckstollen erhebliche Vorteile bietet, wurde schließlich diese Variante in Auftrag gegeben.

Summary

Between December 1975 and March 1977 the 5,5 km long Rotenberg tunnel in the Bregenzer Wald (Vorarlberg) was driven with a Robbins tunneling machine with a diameter of 3,90 m. This tunnel constitutes the core of the penstock of the Langenegg power plant.

The tunnel lies in the subalpine Molasse zone. Approx. 1150 m of the route run through the so-called building stone zone, which consists of highly abrasive and impact-resistant sandstone beds, the remainder of the tunnel runs through alternating sequences of marly sandstone, calcareous sandstone and conglomerate, which — with the exception of a big conglomerate bed — did not constitute any great obstacle to boring. Other influences, such as cracks and fissure water, were of minor importance.

The Robbins machine, Model 124–134, is equipped for this diameter with 26 disccutters and has a maximum driving force of 320 t. The ancillary installations consist of a working platform for shotcrete lining located between the tunneling machine and the conveyor belt, the placing equipment for the bottom segments, the conveyor belt, and a California switch.

Both because of the geological conditions and the future stresses and strains acting on the ground as a result of the high internal pressure in the tunnel, the safety measures had to be selected with the utmost care and consideration. By using well-proven methods (steel arches, roof bolts, shotcrete, and precast reinforced concrete elements) in a new combination it was possible to meet the task and to achieve an optimal support and conservation of the ground. The facilities were designed in such a way that all safety measures could be carried out without any great impairment of the boring operation.

Despite a number of difficulties and problems the use of the tunneling machine for the Rotenberg tunnel was altogether successful. The heading operation could be completed two months ahead of schedule.
