Abstract
For many years we have carried out an intensive study of enterobacterial plasmids from different parts of the world, particularly in salmonellae, and specially in Salmonella typhimurium and S.typhi. The methods employed were those we have established for routine plasmid characterisation (1). Patterns of regional plasmid predominance have emerged and it is these patterns that I propose to outline in this communication.
