Zusammenfassung
Die einfachste Form der theoretischen Behandlung von Verbrennungsvorgängen in strömenden Medien ist zweifellos jene, bei der man annimmt, daß die chemische Reaktion innerhalb einer bestimmten Zone stattfindet, wobei deren Ausdehnung in Strömungsrichtung klein gegen die übrigen Abmessungen im Strömungsfeld ist. Wir sprechen dann von Verbrennungs- bzw. Detonationsfronten oder ganz allgemein von Reaktionsfronten*. Die chemische Reaktion wird im folgenden durch jene Wärmemenge repräsentiert, die bei der Verbrennung frei wird und die der Strömung innerhalb der Reaktionszone zugeführt wird. Somit betrachten wir lediglich die Zustände vorund nach abgeschlossener Wärmezufuhr, ohne uns um die meist sehr komplizierten Vorgänge im Inneren der Front zu kümmern. Natürlich ist dies eine starke Idealisierung. Sie ist jedoch in vielen Fällen, insbesondere bei Detonationsvorgängen, durchaus sinnvoll, da sie uns Untersuchungen von sehr allgemeiner Art erlaubt, ohne auf eine bestimmte Reaktion eingehen zu müssen. Wir werden andererseits aber auch sehen, daß diese Betrachtungsweise nicht immer ausreicht und bei ihrer Anwendung eine gewisse Vorsicht geboten ist. In vielen Fällen müssen die charakteristischen Einzelheiten der chemischen Reaktion mit berücksichtigt werden, was meist recht schwierig und — wie aus Teil II ersichtlich — auch nicht ohne vereinfachende Annahmen möglich ist. Es kann ferner vorkommen, daß bei gewissen Verbrennungsvorgängen der Frontcharakter überhaupt nicht gegeben ist. Auch dann muß zu anderen Berechnungsverfahren übergegangen werden.
