Abstract
Oxyhalide-solvents can act as halide ion-donors in a similar manner to the acceptor halides discussed in the previous chapter. On the other hand they differ from the covalent halides by the donor properties at the 0-atoms and coordination chemistry in their solutions will depend on the donor properties as expressed by the donor numbers1, 2.
