Abstract

There is no sector within agriculture where the practical need for international co-operation is so great as in plant protection. Climatic zones, and not the frontiers of countries, decide and limit the occurence of plant pests and plant diseases, so that the States of one Continent are concerned with numerous problems of a common nature in the field of plant protection. The struggle to save space and time, which has been one of man’s biggest problems for centuries, applies particularly to the question of plant protection. For here we are facing the difficulty of controlling, if possible, within the shortest and earliest time, the various diseases and pests of plants with all the resources available to us.
