Zusammenfassung

Die theoretische und klinische Entwicklung der Antidepressiva nahm ihren Ausgang von den Entdeckungen der antidepressiven Wirkung von Imipramin durch Kuhn [187] und von Iproniazid durch Kline [176]. Der „ersten Generation “ von zahlreichen trizyklischen Antidepressiva bzw. Monoaminoxidase (MAO)-Hemmern folgte die Entwicklung der „zweiten Generation“, d. h. antidepressiv wirksame Substanzen, die strukturchemisch und teilweise auch pharmakologisch keine Verwandtschaft mit den „klassischen“ Antidepressiva aufweisen.
