Destructive stereotatic procedures for spasticity directed to the brain and the cerebellum

  • Chapter
Neurosurgery for Spasticity

Abstract

The introduction of new techniques in the neurosurgical treatment of spasticity has resulted in the abandonment of destructive therapeutic lesions in the cerebrum and in the cerebellum. Nevertheless a review of these methods will be given briefly as they were popular 25 years ago and the reasons for their abandonment will be emphasized.
