Abstract
The film (Weber 1992) demonstrates and explains the elaborate flower structure of Nigella arvensis in relation to pollination. The course of anthesis (stamen and style movements in the male and female stage) is shown in rapid motion. Of special interest is the unique mode of anther dehiscence and pollen presentation. Pollination by various hymenopterans (Apis mellifica, Pyrobombus lapidarius, Polistes dominulus, Eumenes pedunculatus) is shown, as well as acitivites of illegitimate flower visitors (cf. Halictus spec., Episyrphus spec).
