Physiologische Veränderungen des weiblichen Körpers sind auf die Bedürfnisse des Embryos und Feten abgestimmt. Viele dieser Veränderungen haben entscheidende Konsequenzen für die medizinische Beurteilung und Betreuung der Schwangeren und werden im Folgenden getrennt nach Organsystemen besprochen.
