Abstract
The subject of pharmacology has had a long history, going back to the very beginnings of human knowledge. For even primitive man must have been interested in knowing to what extent it was possible to cure himself of disease, or to influence his various bodily functions by eating or drinking or exposing himself in one way or another to the various substances or mixtures of substances he was able to find in his environment
