Definition of Air Space

The definition of air space is a matter of fundamental interest in jurisprudence, but it also poses an interesting physical problem. The boundary to the air space of a nation may be defined with respect to possible regimes of flight, as suggested by Professor von Kármán. However, I believe that outer space must be defined as the region traversed by vehicles which have been placed in orbit around the earth, or which have escaped from the gravitational attraction of the earth.
