Abstract
The venous patch as a surgical technique was first described in the literature by Senning (1959) and by Crawford et al. (1959). This technique has demonstrated its value for the surgery of medium and large calibre arterial vessels. With the help of the surgical microscope it is possible to place venous patches in arteries with external diameters of approximately 1 mm. The technique of the venous patch may be of great help in several cerebrovascular affections.
