Abstract
This experiment was performed to study clinicopathophysiology and cerebral metabolism of regional cerebral ischaemia produced by embolization of the trunk of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) of the dog, in contrast with that produced by trapping of the trunk of MCA. Embolectomy as a treatment for cerebral embolism is a contraversial subject. The effect of embolectomy within three hours after embolization is evaluated in this model.
