Über 13 000 Publikationen allein in den letzten 3 Jahren unterstreichen die Wertigkeit dieses Krankheitsbildes für Kliniker und Wissenschafter. Im Vergleich dazu nimmt sich die Anzahl von über 800 Publikationen über die konservativen Therapiemöglichkeiten im selben Zeitraum fast bescheiden aus.
