Abstract

The preceding chapters in this book have been devoted to the technique of singing primarily. However, co-ordination of all the various functional aspects of making sound does not make a true artist. A good technique represents only one ingredient of artistry. Other ingredients are not so tangible and they include the singer’ s personality and response to the mood and receptivity of each audience. All of these factors, and more, indicate that singing is a holistic process in which the whole is indeed more than the sum of its parts.
