Abstract
Hippocrate already placed a warning: “Do not use blood-letting, cauterisation or a knife” before a change in weather conditions. In certain regions (e.g. foehn, like. in Innsbruck) surgeons even to-day follow this warning and do not perform certain operations before changing weather. Such changes also affect the sensation of pain. The author kept records of degree and duration of pain from 4.000 patients, as they described their complaints. It was noted that patients sensing changes in weather indicated a significantly higher degree and longer duration of their pain compared with those not having these sensations when weather is changing.
