Abstract
Among all theoretical problems of the theory of elasticity, the two-dimensional problems of plane strain (or stress) belong to the most frequently considered and discussed ones; this is caused, first of all, by the relative simplicity of the governing equations owing to the reduced number of unknown components of the displacement, stresses and deformation, and by a wider range of technical means of experimental verification of the theoretical results. In this Section we are going to derive the fundamental equations governing the behavior of micropolar elastic continua in a two-dimensional state of strain.
