Die Sportorthopädie ist ein modernes Teilgebiet der Orthopädie. Sie befasst sich mit der Entstehung, Erkennung, Therapie, Prophylaxe und Rehabilitation von Sportverletzungen sowie mit Überlastungsproblemen am Stütz- und Bewegungsapparat, also an den Knochen, Gelenken, Muskeln und Sehnen. Schwerpunkte bilden die Verletzungen am Knie- und Sprunggelenk. Stefan Nehrer hat sich auf die regenerative Medizin in der Sportorthopädie spezialisiert. Vor allem in der Zelltransplantation sowie der Entwicklung von Operationstechniken im Gelenksknorpelbereich gehört der Forscher zu den international führenden Experten.

Abstract

Sports orthopedics is a modern branch of orthopedics. It studies the development, diagnosis, therapy, prevention of and rehabilitation from sport injuries, as well as stress problems affecting the musculoskeletal system such as bones, joints, muscles and tendons. Knee and ankle-joint injuries are special focal points. Stefan Nehrer has specialized in regenerative medicine in the field of sports orthopedics. The scientist is a leading, international capacity in cell transplants and the development of surgery methods for articular cartilage.
