Die Forschungsgebiete beinhalten Fragen zur Entstehung und Entwicklung von Sternen und Planetensystemen, die Untersuchung von exotischen Objekten wie Schwarzen Löchern, die Entstehung und Entwicklung von Sternsystemen sowie die Untersuchung der großräumigen Massenverteilung im Universum. Während man in der Theoretischen Astrophysik computergestützte Modelle und Simulationen von physikalischen Prozessen im Universum rechnet, werden diese Vorhersagen in der Beobachtenden Astrophysik mit Beobachtungen von Teleskopen und Satelliten im gesamten Bereich des elektromagnetischen Spektrums verglichen. Werner Zeilinger beschäftigt sich vorrangig mit der Entstehung und Entwicklung von Galaxien.

Abstract

Astrophysics deals with the physics of our universe. Its research fields include the creation and evolution of stars and planet systems, the exploration of exotic, celestial objects, such as black holes, the creation and evolution of star systems, as well as the investigation of mass distribution in space. Theoretical astrophysics uses computer-aided models and simulations to calculate physical processes in the universe, while observational astrophysics compares the results with its observations made in the electromagnetic spectrum with the help of telescopes and satellites. Werner Zeilinger’s work mainly revolves around the creation and evolution of galaxies.
