Weinbau gehört zu den Agrarwissenschaften und ist ein interdisziplinäres wissenschaftliches Fachgebiet. Weinbauliche Forschung begleitet die Kultivierung der Weinrebe im Feld bis hin zur Wein- bzw. Saftproduktion. Das Fach Weinbau beinhaltet die Geschichte, die Verbreitung und wirtschaftliche Bedeutung der Rebe, die Organe des Rebstocks, die Rebsorten und Rebenzüchtung, Rebenvermehrung, Neuanlage, Pflanzung, Pflegemaßnahmen und Pflanzenschutz, Produktionsmethoden im Weinbau sowie den Einsatz moderner Methoden der Genetik, Molekularbiologie und Biotechnologie. Astrid Forneck hat sich auf die Bereiche Biotechnologie, Rebenzüchtung, Qualitätsphysiologie und Entomologie (hier: die Reblaus) spezialisiert. Die Forscherin untersucht mit ihrem Team unter anderem den Einfluss von biotischem und abiotischem Stress auf die Fruchtqualität bei der Rebe.

Abstract

Viticulture is a branch of agronomy and an interdisciplinary science. It comprises everything from the cultivation of the vine in the vineyard to wine- making and grape juice production. This discipline also includes the history, distribution and economic significance of the vine, the parts of its canopy, its types and cultivation, the reproduction of vines, the setting-up of new vineyards, planting, care and plant protection, production methods in wine- making and the use of modern technologies, such as plant genetics, molecular biology and biotechnology. Astrid Forneck has specialized in the fields of biotechnology, the cultivation of vines, quality physiology and entomology (here: grape phylloxera). The scientist and her team study the influence of biotic and abiotic stress on the quality of the vine’s grapes.
