Abstract
My name Ping means ‘a little green thing, which lives on the water’. At first I thought that I was a kind of algae, but soon the scientists told me that I am a little bit bigger than any algae they have ever seen. For my residency, I was offered to learn about three levels of scientific research and collaborate with the scientists involved. These were Dr. Christopher Robinson from the ECO Aquatic Ecology group, Dr. Christian Zurbrügg from Sandec, Sanitation in Developing Countries and Renata Behra (UTOX, Environmental Toxicology). These three scientists also cooperated closely with one another to provide a lot of valuable information for me. I soon decided that the three labs were like small screws in one big machine, all contributing to the same overall objective: the understanding of Aquatic Science and the potentials of Technology to help solve ecological problems that they have found. Because they share results from each other’s research, I wanted to develop a complex installation based on the inspiring information from all three labs.
