Zusammenfassung

Die Multiple Sklerose ist eine der häufigsten neurologischen Erkrankungen im jungen Erwachsenalter. Etwa 2 /3 der Betroffenen sind Frauen. Die Erkrankung verläuft zumeist über viele Jahrzehnte und beeinflusst die Lebenserwartung kaum. Die Symptomatik ist sehr vielgestaltig und eine Prognose über den Verlauf ist oft nur schwer zu stellen. Neben den durch neurologische Ausfälle bedingten Behinderungen macht vor allem die Ungewissheit über den Langzeitverlauf vielen Betroffenen zu schaffen.
