Some exact solutions of the equations of viscous fluid flow for axially-symmetric motion. which are such that the component velocities are inversely proportional to the distance from the origin, have already been given. It is shown that jets having their maximum velocity lying on a cone have this character and the flow in these radial jets is investigated. The exact solutions for laminar flow are compared with those given by the boundary layer approximation. The temperature distribution for heated radial jets is derived. It is also shown that some of the features of turbulent radial jets are likely to be the same as for laminar radial jets.
