Calculation of Viscous Incompressible Flows in Time-Dependent Domains

  • Chapter
Numerical Treatment of the Navier-Stokes Equations

Part of the book series: Notes on Numerical Fluid Mechanics (NNFM) ((NNFM,volume 30 5))

Summary

A numerical scheme for computing viscous incompressible flows on zonal grids is presented. The scheme allows the usage of local body fitted grids that overlap global cartesian grids. The computational domain may be multiply connected and contain several solid bodies. A Multi-Grid scheme, that is capable of handling zonal and locally refined grids has been developed. The convergence rate of the scheme, under different conditions, is studied. The application of the method to some flow problems exhibits the basic features of the scheme.
