Dieser Beitrag hat drei Schwerpunkte: 1. die Beschreibung traditioneller und moderner religiöser Tänze der !Kung Buschleute, in denen Krankenheilung eines der erwünschten Ergebnisse eines veränderten Bewußtseinszustandes ist; 2. die Beschreibung grundlegender Prozesse, die für diese Tänze charakteristisch sind; 3. die Betrachtung der Veränderungen, die die Heilerrolle der Trance-Tänzer in neuerer Zeit erfahren hat.
