■ In dem Beitrag wird untersucht, welche Faktoren die Adoption des Electronic Commerce durch den Einzelhandel in Deutschland maßgeblich beeinflussen.

■ Der Electronic Commerce wird dabei als eine organisatorische Innovation betrachtet. Auf Basis eines Bezugsrahmens wird ein Kausalmodell zur Erklärung der Adoption dieser Innovation entwickelt.

■ Dieses Kausalmodell wird mit dem statistischen Verfahren der Kausalanalyse getestet. Die verwendeten Daten basieren auf den Angaben von 247 deutschen Einzelhandelsunternehmen.

■ Es zeigt sich, dass vor allem die die Einschätzung der Kompatibilität des Electronic Commerce sowie die Unterstützung durch die Unternehmensführung und durch Champions wichtige Determinanten der Adoption des Electronic Commerce darstellen. Umwelteinflüsse spielen hingegen praktisch keine Rolle.

Andere Ansätze zur Aufteilung einer Transaktion in Phasen betrachten lediglich eine einzige Handelstransaktion (vgl. Schmid 1993; Merz et al. 1999, S. 329f. und Müller-Hagedorn und Kaapke 1999, S. 17f.). Der Customer Resource Life Cycle (CRLC), auf dem der Customer Buying Cycle basiert, ist hingegen auf den zwischenbetrieblichen Geschäftsverkehr zugeschnitten (vgl. Ives und Learmonth 1984; Mertens 1992, S. 66).
Zu nennen wären hier beispielsweise das Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) von Davis oder die Theory of planned bahavior (TPB) von Ajzen; vgl. Davis 1989; Ajzen 1991.
Vgl. Kwon und Zmud 1987, S. 239. Auch wenn diese Aussage bereits 1987 getroffen wurde, so dürfte sich daran in den letzten Jahren nur wenig geändert haben.
In der gesamten Studie wurden neben der Phase der Adoption noch die Evaluierung und Implementierung als weitere Phasen des Adoptionsprozesses betrachtet. Die Ergebnisse hierzu sind bei den Autoren dieses Beitrags erhältlich.
Häufig werden in der Literatur die Begriffe Champion, Promoter und „internal entrepreneur“ synonym verwendet (vgl. Tushman und Nadler 1986, S. 89; 1980, S. 59). Witte bezeichnet einen Champion als Fachpromoter (vgl. Witte 1999, S. 17).
Andere kausalanalytische Verfahren, wie zum Beispiel PLS (Partial Least Squares), basieren auf den Varianzen der Indikatorvariablen. Sie haben allerdings bisher keine große Verbreitung gefunden; vgl. Chin und Newsted 1999, S. 207ff.
Diese Software verwendet die Notation von Bentler-Weeks, die es ermöglicht die Modelle in Gleichungen zu formulieren (vgl. Bentler-Weeks 1979,1980 und Byrne 1994). Das weit verbreitete Software-Paket LISREL formuliert Kausalmodelle mit Hilfe von Matrizen (vgl. Jöreskog 1979; Backhaus et al. 1996, S. 3232f.). Bei den in diesem Beitrag aufgestellten Modellen können mit Hilfe von LISREL dieselben Ergebnisse erzielt werden (vgl. Homburg und Sütterlin 1990, S. 184f.).
Zu diesen Verfahren gehören die exploratorische Faktorenanalyse und der Reliabilitätskoeffizient Cronbachsches Alpha. Bei diesen Verfahren ist keine Untersuchung von Messfehlereinflüssen möglich und die Beurteilung von Validitätsaspekten basiert nicht auf statistischen Tests, sondern auf Faustregeln; vgl. Homburg und Giering 1998, S. 120f.
Es wurden dabei der Lagrange Multiplikatoren (LM)-Test und der Wald (W)-Test zur iterativen Modellselektion verwendet. Zu einer ausführlichen Beschreibung der iterativen Modellselektion siehe Bentier 1986 und Homburg und Dobratz 1998, S. 447ff.
So wiesen die zur Messung der Sicherheitsmängel verwendeten Indikatoren bei einer Likertskala von 1 bis 5 Durchschnittswerte zwischen 3,43 und 3,69 auf.
Der Einfluss dieser Faktoren war jeweils statistisch nicht signifikant. Die so modellierten Modelle genügten allerdings den formulierten Anforderungen an globale Anpassungsmaße nicht.
