Abstract

The terms primary and secondary statistics require some explanation. For the purposes of this guide these terms are used in the following way: Primary statistics are thought of as statistics produced by official statistical agencies in tabular or machine-readable form. Secondary statistics on the other hand refer to the use of primary statistics and their transformation into data handbooks, databases etc.
