In den Debatten über Einwanderung spielen von der Kolonialzeit bis in die Gegenwart nicht nur Zweckmäßigkeitserwägungen, sondern stets auch Überlegungen hinsichtlich des kollektiven Selbstverständnisses eine bedeutende Rolle.
