Zusammenfassung

In einem viel beachteten Artikel legte Wibbels dar, dass der Einfluss des Föderalismus auf die wirtschaftspolitische Stabilisierungspolitik1 und die ökonomische Anpassung bisher viel zu wenig diskutiert worden sei (Wibbels 2000: 688). Dies gälte insbesondere für vergleichende Darstellungen in der Politikwissenschaft (siehe dazu aber Bird 1986; Watts 1999; King 1984; Schneider/Schultze 1999; Painter 2001; Castles 2001; Braun u.a. 2001; Faust 2001). Wenn dieser Zusammenhang diskutiert wird, geschieht dies zumeist im Rahmen des „fiscal federalism“, also aus ökonomischer Sichtweise (Oates 1991, 1999; Kirsch 1977; Dillinger/Webb 1999; Ter-Minassian 1997; Seitz 2000; Haan/Sturm 1994) oder durch amerikanische bzw. kanadische Politologen, die allerdings nicht international vergleichend arbeiten (Alt/Lowry 1994; Lowry u.a. 1998; Courchene 1986; Savoie 1996).
