Zusammenfassung
Piktoriale und propositionale Verfahren stellen mögliche Mechanismen in der internen Repräsentation unseres Weltmodells dar. Repräsentationen werden verstanden als syntaktisch wirksame, in neuronalen, raum-zeitlich bestimmbaren Vorgängen realisierte Muster, die ihren semantischen Gehalt in der Umweltinteraktion im Rahmen eines holistischen Bedeutungspostulats zugewiesen bekommen:
... der Bezug wird nicht durch Bedingungen oder Gegenstände in individuellen Gehirnen/Geistern bestimmt, sondern er wird sozial festgelegt. Schaut man auf der Suche nach dem Bezug unserer Wörter im Innern des Gehirns nach, dann sucht man ... schlicht am falschen Platz. (Putnam 1988 1991, 63)
