Abstract

The purpose of this research is to discuss the functions and elements of innovation management systems at the company level. We aim to clarify basic factors and problems to be solved in corporate innovation management. As the key points of discussion, we propose the elemental characteristics of the innovation management system. This system consists of three management levels: corporate level, business level, and activity level. Each level consists of several sub-levels created in order to accomplish each subgoal of management. The proposed concept and elements of an innovation system were verified by the discussion at the ISPIM Working Conference and by many comments from the participants. As a result of this process, we clarified the elemental activities of innovation management and the factors to be included in individual innovation management levels.
