Effects of Dismantlings on the Transportation and Building Trade
Reference has been made in this paper to the “Primary Dismantlings” in the sector of iron, steel, and chemistry, as well as to the interruptions caused by primary dismantling in the machine building industry, sub-supplying the mines, the coal refining plants, and the power trade. Now we shall turn to 2 equally important branches of industry, both of which are indirectly hit by dismantling. They are the transportation and the building industries. Both sectors are closely related with each ether. A serviceable net of streets demands an efficient road-building trade, a well-functioning railway system and, in addition, a good railway-and bridge building industry. The machine-building industry is of greatest importance for both these sectors.
