Zusammenfassung
In der Regel ist die elektronische Leitfähigkeit in Festkörpern wie z.B. Keramiken keine Materialkonstante, sondern in einem mehr oder weniger hohen Maße von intensiven Zustandsgrößen wie der Temperatur, dem elektrischen Feld und dem Druck abhängig. Zur Herstellung von linearen (ohmschen) Widerständen muß das Material dergestalt ausgelegt werden, daß diese Abhängigkeiten besonders klein ausfallen und bestimmte, von Normungsgremien (IEC, DIN, usw.) aufgestellte Toleranzen nicht überschreiten. Zur Herstellung nicht-linearer Widerstände werden spezifische Abhängigkeiten der Leitfähigkeit in ausgewählten elektronischen Keramiken bewußt gezüchtet. Zu den nichtlinearen Widerständen zählt man spannungsabhängige Widerstände (Varistoren) und temperaturabhängige Widerstände mit positivem Temperaturkoeffizienten (Kaltleiter, PTC-Widerstände) bzw. mit negativem Temperaturkoeffizienten (Heißleiter, NTC-Widerstände). Tabelle 1.1 gibt eine Übersicht über die Widerstandstypen und die physikalischen Effekte, die für das elektrische Verhalten verantwortlich sind.
