Zusammenfassung
Wie die experimentelle Textverarbeitungsforschung gezeigt hat, ist Sprachverstehen ein äußerst komplexer Prozeß, der als integraler Bestandteil der gesamten menschlichen Informationsverarbeitung angesehen werden kann (vgl. z.B. Engelkamp, 1984; Herrmann, 1985). Ein wesentliches Charakteristikum von Sprachrezeption ist die kontinuierliche Interaktion zwischen textbasierten Bottom-up- und wissensbasierten Top-downProzessen. Leser werten bei der Sprachverarbeitung fortwährend textbasierte und wissensbasierte Informationen aus, d.h. sie interpretieren die eingehende Textinformation vor dem Hintergrund ihres sprachlichen und außersprachlichen Wissens (vgl. z.B. Rickheit, Schnotz & Strohner, 1985; Schnotz, 1988; Strube, Hemforth & Wrobel, 1990). Unter sprachlichem Wissen ist beispielsweise grammatisches Wissen zu verstehen. Die Erfahrungen, die im alltäglichen Umgang mit der Welt gesammelt werden, gehen als allgemeines Weltwissen in das außersprachliche Wissen ein. In dem Bestreben, den Sinn eines Textes zu begreifen, erstellen Rezipienten unter Berücksichtigung der verschiedenen Wissensquellen eine kognitive Repräsentation, ein mentales Modell des Gelesenen (vgl. Garrod & Sanford, 1988; Hörmann, 1976; Johnson-Laird, 1983; Just & Carpenter, 1987; Schnotz, 1988; van Dijk & Kintsch, 1983 sowie eine Reihe von experimentellen Arbeiten: Ehrlich & Johnson-Laird, 1982; Glenberg, Meyer & Lindem, 1987; Mani & Johnson-Laird, 1982; Morrow, Bower & Greenspan, 1989; Morrow, Greenspan & Bower, 1987; Oakhill & Garnham, 1985).
Die in diesem Beitrag dargestellten Ergebnisse sind in dem Projekt ”Inferenzprozesse beim kognitiven Aufbau sprachlich angeregter mentaler Modelle“ erarbeitet worden. Wir danken der DFG fur die Forderung dieses Projektes seit 1. Oktober 1987 (Kennziffer Ri 314/10).
