Zusammenfassung
Obwohl es eine andauernde Diskussion darüber gibt, ob eine neuroleptische Behandlung notwendig oder für sich allein ausreichend ist, um Spätdyskinesien bei psychiatrischen Patienten zu verursachen, besteht doch zum gegenwärtigen Zeitpunkt ein Konsens darüber, daß Neuroleptika eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Verursachung, Verschlimmerung oder Auslösung von Spätdyskinesien spielen. Es steht fest, daß eine Reihe anderer Faktoren, die eine Prädisposition für die Entwicklung dieses Zustandes darstellen, ebenfalls von Bedeutung sind. Zahlreiche Prävalenzuntersuchungen sind in verschiedenen Populationen durchgeführt und in Übersichtsarbeiten ausführlich besprochen worden (Jeste et al., 1982; Kane et al., 1982a). Insgesamt haben diese Prävalenzuntersuchungen dazu beigetragen, die Populationen zu identifizieren, die besonders gefährdet sein könnten. Sie haben Hinweise auf mögliche Risikofaktoren gegeben und den Gesamtumfang des Problems aufgezeigt.
