Zusammenfassung
Soziale Netzwerke und soziale Unterstützung erfreuen sich seit den 70er Jahren eines gewachsenen Interesses in den verschiedenen Teilgebieten der Psychologie, wie an einem exponentiellen Anstieg der Veröffentlichungen abzulesen ist (vgl. z.B. Klusmann 1989). In der Entwicklungspsychologie etwa wird die soziale, emotionale und kognitive Entwicklung nicht nur von bestimmten Erziehungsformen abhängig gesehen, sondern auch von sozialen Interaktionen im sozialen Umfeld, wodurch Symbole, Bedeutungen, Normen und Werte vermittelt und damit der Enkulturations- und Sozialisierungsprozeß vorangetrieben wird (Hurrelmann 1995, Fend 1970). In der Persönlichkeitspsychologie wurden enge Beziehungen zwischen persönlichen und sozialen Ressourcen gefunden und damit auf die Bedeutung interindividuell verschiedener Wahrnehmungen sozialer Netzwerke und auf die Fähigkeiten, Beziehungen zu knüpfen und zu unterhalten, verwiesen (Becker 1995). Sozialpsychologische Ansätze schließlich fanden Beziehungen bspw. zwischen der Kontinuität und Homogenität individueller Einstellungen und Einflüssen aus der sozialen Primärumgebung.
