Der Neofunktionalismus Nachruf auf ein Forschungsprogramm

Zusammenfassung

Im Zusammenhang mit seinem Versuch, die „theoretische Logik“ der Soziologie auf der Basis einer postempiristischen Wissenschaftsphilosophie neu zu bestimmen (vgl. Alexander 1982, Alexander 1982a, Alexander 1983, Alexander 1983a), hat Jeffrey Alexander die Konsequenzen aus der Tatsache gezogen, dass die zunehmende Kritik an der Parsons’schen Theorie zur Auflösung des „orthodoxen Konsensus“ der theoretischen Soziologie bzw. zu einer zunehmend unübersichtlicher werdenden Multiparadigmatik (vgl. Ritzer 1975, Friedrichs 1970) gefhrt hatte. Zu deren Uberwindung hat er sich in Ubereinstimmung mit seiner Theorie über die Organisationsform wissenschaftlicher Forschung, nach der „Schulen“ und „Traditionen“ von charismatischen Führern begründet werden, die die Forschungsthemen und grundlegenden Losung vorgeben (vgl. Alexander 1989: 8ff., Alexander & Colomy 1992: 36f.), um die Etablierung einer in der Parsonsnachfolge stehenden Schule des Neofunktionalismus bemüht, die die unterschiedlichen Kritiken und Revisionsvorschlage, denen die Sozialtheorie Parsons’ ausgesetzt war, bündeln und zu einem entwicklungsfahigen Forschungsprogramm synthetisieren sollte1.
