Zusammenfassung
Eustress (Selye, 1976, 1978) kann gewissermaßen als gute Form von Stress gewertet werden, den wir brauchen, um unseren inneren Motor auf Betriebstemperatur zu halten. Er treibt uns (in Verbindung mit weiteren körperlichen und psychischen Anreizen) an, um zum Beispiel im Büroalltag neue Ideen einzubringen, Aufgaben gut und schnell zu erfüllen oder im Sport gute Leistungen zu erzielen. Stress kann uns also motivieren und dazu bewegen, Leistung abzurufen und eine gesetzte Aufgabe zielstrebig und effizient zu verfolgen. Um also produktiv und gefordert zu sein, braucht man ein gesundes Maß an positivem Stress (◘ Abb. 4.1). Eustress hilft uns somit „am Ball zu bleiben“.
