Abstract
This chapter deals with animal ethics and thus with socially significant, current questions regarding human interaction with animals. The first part is about understanding why important questions about ethically correct behavior towards animals have so far received little attention in animal-assisted therapy. Subsequently, animal ethics are presented in a summarized and abbreviated form. The focus here is on the most well-known representatives and currents of animal ethics. The chapter finally culminates in the question relevant for the future development of animal-assisted therapy, what questions and ethical obligations animal ethics gives us as animal-assisted therapists.
