Zusammenfassung

Ein Diabetes mellitus liegt vor, wenn der Nüchternblutzucker ≥ 7,0 mmol/l, der orale Glukosetoleranztest (OGTT) ≥ 11,1 mmol/l oder das glykolisierte Hämoglobin (HbA1c) ≥ 6,5 % oder ≥ 48 mmol/mol beträgt. Die Diagnose eines Diabetes mellitus kann außerdem bei einem Gelegenheitszucker ≥ 11,1 mmol/l und gleichzeitigem Vorliegen von Symptomen (Gewichtsverlust, Diurese, Müdigkeit, exzessiver Hunger etc.) eines Diabetes mellitus gestellt werden.
