Die Frage, ob Körperstrafen rechtlich zulässige Mittel in der Erziehung von Kindern sind, ist umstritten. Jurisdiktionen, die sie ausdrücklich verbieten, stehen solchen gegenüber, in denen sie erlaubt sind und die vor allem Eltern das Recht einräumen, ihre Kinder auf diese Weise zu bestrafen.

Das entspricht auch dem Verständnis des Committee on the Rights of the Child: “The Committee defines “corporal” or “physical” punishment as any punishment in which physical force is used and intended to cause some degree of pain or discomfort, however light.
