Abstract
Conversions of sulfur are even more complex than those of nitrogen. Some conversions occur at considerable rates, both chemically and biologically. The redox cycle for sulfur and the involvement of microorganisms in sulfur transformations are shown. Although a large number of oxidation states are possible, only the following form significant amounts. In addition, the iron and the manganese cycles are discussed.
