The Microbial Nitrogen Cycle

  • Chapter
  • First Online:
Environmental Microbiology

Abstract

The microbial participation in the nitrogen cycle is of great importance for the environment. In microbial conversions, all oxidation stages are passed through. The nitrogen fixation, ammonification, nitrification, anaerobic ammonium oxidation, and nitrate reduction are the subject of the presentation.
